Henry and Fanny Nickolaus' farm was north of Olds, IA at (address in 2001): 1861 Hwy 78. Just west of where Hwy 78 turns west and James Ave continues north at this intersection.
Henry walked from Ontario, Canada to Marshall, Iowa (later renamed Waylan, Iowa due to confusion with Marshalltown, IA) with his cobbler tools. It is said he came to Waylan because there was a Mennonite community there (per Shirley Mathews-Madden). Henry had served and apprenticeship to a cobbler in his early youth. He and Fannie homesteaded a place in Iowa and purchased adjoining acreage from the government. He broke sod by day and cobbled shoes at night for his neighbors.
After several years passed, his mother was brought down from Canada to live with them. She was very senile and did not recognize her son, Henry, who she was always begging to see. She would start off to find him, and John and Peter would run after her and hang onto her skirts and delay her until Fannie could catch up and coax her to return home with her.
With several small children and a helpless old mother and his wife to care for, the day came when Henry was conscripted for the Army to fight in the Rebellion of 1861 (Civil War). He was allowed to hire another man to go in his stead by paying the man $50.
When Henry died, each child received 80 acres of land and his widow had $10,000 plus a home with her daughter, Amelia, for the rest of her life. She inherited the home farm. (I am assuming this reads that Amelia inherited the home farm). Henry and Fanny Nickolaus are buried in Eicher Cemetery in Washington County north of Olds, IA. Section One, row 17 of the cemetery.

Notes for MRS. FANNY (RICH) NICHOLAUS
Perhaps no one has been better known in this community than the late Henry Nickolaus and his family. Mrs. Fannie Nickolaus, nee Rich, died 10 March 1919, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clark Zickafoose, near Olds, aged 79 years and 21 days. Mr. Nickolaus preceded her in death on September 20, 1907. Mrs. Fannie Rich Nickolaus was born in Alsace, France, on February 19, 1840, coming to America in her early life. She was married to Henry Nickolaus on May 23, 1856, the wedding taking place in Wayland, then Marshall. They lived all their life on the border of Washington and Henry counties and were thus members of this community throughout their life. She was the last one of a family of fifteen to pass away.
There were born to these good people ten children, six sons and four daughters. Two of these died in early youth, Lizzie at the age of ten, and Gilbert at the age of 14. Eight children survive the mother.
They are John, of the state of Washington;
Peter northwest of Wayne;
Adaline, who is the wife of Mr. Elmer Hooper of Olds;
Wesley, living northwest of Olds;
William of Kansas City;
Henry of Mt. Pleasant;
Lida, wife of Mr. Sam Miller of Olds, and
Amelia, wife of Mrs. Clark Zickefoose of near Olds.
Besides these eight children living, there are 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren to mourn the loss of the mother and grandmother. Mrs. Nickolaus was a member of the Evangelical church and remained faithful to her confession until her death. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon, March 13, at 2 p.m. and interment made at the Eicher church cemetery.
The services were in charge of Rev. S. M. Musselman and Rev. Hansen of Olds. Rev. Hansen had charge of the services at the house and spoke a very fine tribute on the words, "She hath done what she could," Mark 24:8, and Rev. Musselman spoke at the church on John 14:27, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid," this chapter having been a great comfort to the deceased in her last days especially.
The sad part of this day was the fact that besides John, who on account of the great distance could not come at this time of the year, three other members, Henry of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Hooper and Mrs. Clark Zickafoose of Olds were not able to attend on account of illness. The remains looked lifelike and were tenderly borne to the grave by six grandsons.

Obituary: J. A. Nickolaus Dies in Spokane
Relatives of Mr. J. A. Nickolaus of Spokane, Wash. have received word of his death on Jan 28, 1944. He was nearly 84 years old and had been in failing health for sometime. When living near and in Mt. Pleasant, Ia, he was active in the Methodist church, Henry County Mutual Insurance and Farmers Union.
He and his family moved to Richland, Wash. in May 1918. He leaves four children and four grandsons, one of whom was reported missing in action in December after having taken part in many raids over Germany. He also leaves three brothers and two sisters, P.L. of Crawfordsville, Ia., R.R. and H. B. of Washington, Ia, S. W. of Benton City, Wash., Mrs. Lyda Miller of Olds, who has been confined in the Memorial hospital since October 28 with a broken leg, and Mrs. H. C. Zickefoose of 606 E. Warren St., Mt. Pleasant.

According to Allan (2001):
Allan dropped out of high school in the 11th grade of high school. He wasn't doing very well academically so his Dad told him he had better quit and get a job. So he did. He ended up working for his Dad for awhile learning the painting and paper-hanging trade. He did not like working for his Dad too much and that is when he and his buddy, Clyde P., hopped a fright train to the recruiters office and signed up for the USS Navy. Clyde P. later went AWOL. Allan, whose nickname was Butter most of his life, enlisted into the United States Navy at the age of 19.
Allan's first ship was the battleship the USS Mississippi. He was on this ship for 3-1/2 years and never got seasick while aboard. During his tour on the Mississippi they had gone through the Panama Canal. The Mississippi had been anchored just ahead of the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor. The Mississippi went to the Atlantic with the Third Division battleships (USS Idaho, Mississippi, and New Mexico battleships) to do battle with the German Navy in the Atlantic and to protect the merchant ships.
Allan went to Norfolk and got transferred to the USS Wyoming instead of going with the crew to the Atlantic. Next he was transferred to the USS Wyoming because he was an excess rating and the Navy had a lot of new ratings (sailors) coming on board. USS Wyoming was a battleship left over from WWI, which was now a training ship but also a staging ship for excess sailors awaiting transfers. The ship was in Norfolk, VA Norfolk NOB (Navy Operating Base)He was only on the Wyoming for about 6-8 weeks.
From there Allan went to the USS Palmer for 6-8 months. During WWI the Palmer was a destroyer but during WWII she was transformed into a minesweeper. The Palmer was in Norfolk at the time of the Pearl Harbor bombing. They had been in Pearl Harbor but left for Norfolk in May 1941. That night (12-7-41) Allan was on liberty from the Palmer sleeping in a big leather chair at the Norfolk Navy YMCA when the Marine Shore Patrol went around and woke up all the sailors there and told them Pearl had been bombed and they were to get back to their ship. While on the Palmer Allan got seasick! The Palmer would rock side to side and forwards and backwards and then there was the smell of fuel oil while in their bunks. Allan got pretty seasick on that ship but never got seasick again.
Allan's job on the Palmer was a gigcoxswain (pronounced gigcoxen). This was a 3rd class petty officer. He was in charge of a motor whale boat (26 foot boat) where he was the steerman on this boat. The Bow hook and an engineer (motor machinist) worked for Allan. Allan steered the boat, the bowhookman hooked the bow of the boat, and the motor machinist kept the motor running. Allan's boat had a canopy on the front 1/3 of the boat so when he hauled officers around they would not get ocean spray on them and get wet.
Allan's last ship was the USS Montpelier which he was on from 1942 until the end of WWII. This was a light cruiser that was 90 feet by 600 feet long. On the Montpelier he was a 'plank-owner'. This is what the first crew is called when a ship is first commissioned. Allan was also a 'shell-back' and not a 'pollywog. A shell-back is a sailor that has crossed the Equator. Allan had crossed the Equator 3-4 times during his tour in the USS Navy. Allan said there was a term called Air-dale. This was anyone that was flying all the time.
Elwin Musser (brother-in-law) was in the Navy and he was called an Air-dale. Elwin was a Navy photographer and flew quite a bit. His position on the Monte was he was in charge of the sail locker. They had large sewing machines and they repaired or made canvas gun covers or whatever needed to be sewn up or made.
Allan was in the Navy for 7 years, 1 month, and 21 days. He could have gotten out after his 4 years but then he would probably get drafted again because the War was still going on and the US Government would have put him wherever they wanted to - probably the Army so he decided decided to re-enlist and stay where he was and he was held for DOW - the Duration of the War. He was one of the first to be discharged when the War was over.
According to Allan:
Allan was born on a farm in Winfield township, Washington County, Iowa, not too far from where his
Grandfather Nickolaus lived. Not sure how long they lived here but it is believed that his sister Mary was also born on the same farm. They also lived in Floyd, Floyd, Iowa. There is a Methodist Church still in Floyd (2007). This is where Allan was baptized at the age of 7. His grade school in Floyd has been torn down. The other town they lived in was Charles City, Floyd, Iowa. It is just a few miles east of Floyd. They first lived in a house at 1313 F Street (Floyd?, Nancy thinks Floyd). They lived here before going to Florida.
About 1927 the family moved to Florida in a Model T touring car. His Dad thought he might find work down in Florida but by about 1929 they moved back to Floyd, Iowa to 305 Washington. The house was red brick with an open front porch. The house is no longer brick and the porch is now part of the house (2001). Clara Green is the lady that owned the house.
The family lived in 3 different houses while they lived in Floyd. They did not own any of them.
After Floyd, the family moved to Charles City, Iowa. The lived at 603 N. Johnson. Then they moved to Hulin Street next door to the house on Jackson. The house on Hulin Street is gone. The next two house in Charles City Allan was not sure which they lived in next. One house was on the southeast part of town on Hwy 218 across from the Masonic Temple, the house is now gone. The other house was on South Main Street just across where the Cedar Valley Hospital is now. This house is also gone. After those two houses they lived at 1010 10th Ave (lower 10th). This is the street that Nancy (Allan's daughter) remembers her Mother telling her was called "Incubator Ave" because it had so many kids on that street.
Allan was born on a farm just north of Olds, Iowa in Winfield Township. Take 218 North from Olds. Turn east on 105th street. The farm is on the south side of the road just west of Lexington Ave. All that is left is the big red barn. (See photo of barn in right side margin pictures) Peter and Mary Nickolaus attended a church just to the west of this farm. All that is left is the cemetery (Asbury Cemetery). Peter Nickolaus owned this farm at one time but then lost the farm (information from Shirley Mathews-Madden). Allan's sister, Mary, may have been born on this farm also.
Notes for ELAINE LOUISE MUSSER:
Elaine Louise Musser was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Charles City, Floyd, Iowa at xxx Kelly Street. The house on Kelly Street was demolished after the tornado went through Charles City in the late 1960s. The house was damaged beyond repair. Her parents had built a house out on 5th Avenue which is where they were living at the time of the tornado.
Elaine was left handed but was forced to learn to write in school using her right hand. She could write either right or left handed.
Elaine started dating Allan L. Butterfield when she was 15 years old. When Allan, who was in the Navy at Pearl Harbor, she sent him a 'Dear John' letter then she married Alfred McKelvie. Elaine got a divorce after he threatened her with a knife. Elaine started writing Allan again, still in the Navy, and they started corresponding. Elaine traveled out to California where they were married on September 14, 1944. Elaine never mentioned Alfred McKelvie to any of her children. They found out by accident from Elaine's sister, Thelma.
She was in the back seat on the right side of the car when she was in the 'Accident' as the family always called it. Her nephew, Evan, was driving everyone back to Mason City from a dentist appointment in Charles City. It was foggy and Evan wanted to get back for a date he had in St. Paul, MN where he and his mother, Thelma, lived. Evan was passing in foggy conditions. He did not see the gasoline bulk truck making a left hand turn into Rudd, IA when he ran the car into the back end of the truck. Thelma, Elaine's sister, was in the front seat and her hand print was on the back of the gasoline truck. Alleene and Barbara Butterfield were sitting in the back seat of the car and both girls had some of their front teeth knocked out and Barbara broke her femur. Their little sister, Nancy, was sleeping across their laps and was thrown to the floor. Elaine suffered head trama and was not expected to live through the night. At the time of the 'Accident' Elaine and Allan Butterfield ran an A&W Root Beer stand at 640 South Federal in Mason City, IA.

Minnie was a tom-boy. She could out climb and out run any boy.
By the age of 14 she had had three childhood diseases one after another
when rhematoid arthritis hit. Two of the three diseases were Scarlet Fever and Small pox.

MT. PLEASANT - Perry C. Mathews, 81, died early Sunday, Jan. 12, 1975 at his home northeast of here. He was born Oct. 8, 1893, in Canaan township, Henry County, the son of Emerson and Alma Ellen Holland Mathews. He married Luella Nickolaus in Mt. Pleasant, May 6, 1918. He was a life resident of Pleasant Lawn, northeast of Mt. Pleasant; a veteran of both world wars, member of VFW, American Legion, Veterans of World War I and the Wesley United Methodist chapel. Surviving: the wife; five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Leu and Mrs. Phyllis Mallams, both of Mount Pleasant, Mrs. Shirley Madden, Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ruth Bridges, Minden, Neb. and Mrs. Charlotte McClure, Des Plaines, Ill; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Milo, Mt. Henry Mast Former Wayland resident dies
Henry Mast, 72, died at his home in Crawfordsville, Sunday morning at 6:30 after a brief illness. Stricken early Friday morning with a severe heart attack which was the first he ever had as far as the family knew. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Gladden of Crawfordsville and Paul of near Noble, Three sisters, Mrs. P. L. Nicholaus, Mrs. P.R. Schantz of near Crawfordsville and Lydia Mast of Wayland. A son Louis preceded him in death several years ago and one brother Joseph Mast died Jan 12, 1939.
Henry Mast son of David and Magdelene Mast was born 3/25/1886 in Washington Co. Iowa, east of Noble, Crawford township Washington County. Mr. Mast spent much of his life as a farmer living in Wayland and Crawfordsville communities. He moved to Crawfordsville about three years ago. He was a man with many friends being prominent in church and community affairs. Funeral services were held at 2 Tues. afternoon at the Eicher Church Rev. D. E. Welty conducting the service with burial in the Eicher cemetery.
He lived in this and neighboring communities until his departure from this life 2/12/1939. On May 10, 1889 he was united in marriage to Mary Rittler in a ceremony solemnized by the Rev. Benjamin Eicher. They observed their golden wedding anniversary last year. To this union were born 3 sons, Gladden, Louis David and Paul R. Upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he was baptized by the Rev. H. G. Allebach 2/9/1897 and was taken into fellowship of the
Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church. In the later years of his life his membership was transferred to the Wayland Mennonite Church.
On Friday morning last week he became ill and Sunday morning about 6 he was called to his eternal abode at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 14 days.
The following members of the family survive to mourn his passing; his wife Mary, two sons, Gladden and Paul, four grandchildren Mrs. Frances Hanna and Mrs. Norene Erwin, Pauline and Joe Henry Mast; three sisters Mrs. PL Nickolaus, Mrs. PR Schantz and Miss Lydia Mast and many relatives and friends. One son, Louis David, and two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tues Feb 14 at the home in Crawfordsville conducted by the Rev. Chapman and at 3 PM at the Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite church conducted by the Rev. Delbert E. Welty and assisted by the Rev. Wm Penner of Wayland. Pallbearers: Armin Erwin, Arthur Mitchell, Ellis Nickolaus, Bennie Schantz, Dave Schantz, and Wilbur Schantz. Interment at Eicher Cemetery.

The following information was given by Shirley Mathews-Madden, granddaughter of Peter Nickolaus:
Peter L. Nickolaus left the Mennonite Church and joined the Wesleyan Methodist Church and was
excommunicated from the Mennonite Church. Peter married Mary Mast, a Mennonite, who was excommunicated from the Mennonite Church for marrying outside the church. The couple then attended a Methodist Episcopal church.
Peter Nickolaus bred polled Short-horn cattle on his farm that was called Evergreen Hill. He had 147 acres. Peter always had a long prayer before a meal that the pancakes got cold. They ate a lot of buckwheat pancakes. Therefore, his daughter, Luella (Shirley's Mother), never had grace at her table. Just Thank the Lord for this food and that was it. Luella ate too many cold pancakes as a child at her father's table.
Hwy 218 North from Olds. Turn east on 105th Street. On north side of the road is Asbury Cemetery. Peter and Mary Nickolaus went to a church that was here. All that is left is the cemetery. The church was moved to Old Trasher's in Mt Pleasant, IA.
Peter and Mary are buried in Eicher Cemetery in Washington Cty, north of Olds, IA.
Notes for MARY MAST (Nicholaus):
Mary Mast Nickolaus was a decendant of Bishop Jacob Mast of the Amish Mennonite Church.
She is buried beside her husband P.L. Nickolaus in the Eicher Mennonite Cemetary in Washington County, between Wayland and Olds, IA.
The cemetary address: 2670 330th street and Redwood Ave just north of Noble, IA.
Her funeral was on February 19th, which would have been Mary's and P.L.'s 70th wedding anniversary.
Mary Mast-Nickolaus made a comforter and it is now owned by Sandy Madden-Koehler and it is still in excellent shape.
Last Rites for Mrs. P. L. (Mary Mast) Nicholaus
Wayland: Final rites for Mrs. Pete L. Nicholaus, 90, formerly of Crawfordsville, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 1955 at the Zehr Funeral home in Wayland. Rev. H. E. Nunemaker of the Eicher Mennonite church will be in charge of the services with burial to be held in the Eicher cemetery. The grandsons of Mrs. Nicholaus will serve as casket bearers.
February 19 would have been the 70th anniversary of Mrs. Nicholaus’ wedding date. Mary Mast Nicholaus was born September 24, 1864 in Washington county, the daughter of David and Magdelena Wenger Mast. On February 19, 1885 she was united in marriage with P.E. Nicholaus who died on January 13, 1948. Survivors include their daughters: Mrs. Maude Hamilton of Lucas, Iowa, Mrs. Florence Butterfield of Anderson, Calif., Mrs. Lola Howland of Charles City, Mrs. Luella Mathews of Mt. Pleasant, and two sons, Willis and Ellis Nicholaus of McCook, Neb. Three children preceded her in death. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Nicholaus had been ill for two years and died Tuesday at the Kennedy Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Well Known Olds Stockman Meets Death in Chicago
Olds - May 22 (Special) Mr. Sam Miller of this town was killed in Chicago early yesterday morning, being run down by an automobile on Michigan Avenue. Mr. Miller is of the well known firm of Miller Brothers of this place and is about sixty years of age. He went to Chicago Tuesday with a shipment of hogs. The first known of his death was a telegram to his brother from an undertaker in Chicago, saying that he had charge of the body of Mr. Miller and adding that he had been killed by an auto in front of the Lexington Hotel. Mr. Basil Huston, son-in-law of Mr. Miller, and Mr. Alfred Morgan, cashier of the Olds bank, left for Chicago on the first train. They are expected back today. It is believed that they will arrive with the body in Mt. Pleasant on No. 9 and be driven up from there by auto. No arrangements have been made for the funeral. Mr. Miller leaves his wife and one

Olds Woman Taken By Death
Mrs. Samuel Miller, Sr., died at her home in Olds, early Sunday morning, 22 March 1953, following a brief illness. She was a life long resident of this community. Born Lyda Ann Nickolaus in 1872, she was married in 1891 to Samuel Miller a well-known farmer, cattle feeder and stock buyer of Olds. They made their home in Olds at that time and Mrs. Miller lived at this home the rest of her life. Only one person now lives in Olds who was there at the time she came. Mr. Miller was killed in Chicago in 1919 when struck by an auto. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. H. C. Zickefoose of Mt. Pleasant, the only daughter, Clara and her husband (Mr. and Mrs. Basil E. Huston of Olds), 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. One grandson preceded her in death. Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held at the Olds Congregational church Tuesday afternoon, March 24, at 2:00 o’clock. Friends may call at the Crane Funeral home Monday evening. The casket will also be open from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church in Olds. Interment will be at the Eicher cemetery north of Noble, Iowa.

A former resident of Henry county, Wesley Nickolaus, of Benton City, Wash.
died Saturday, Feb 17, 1951. He was 72 years old, and had suffered with
a heart ailment for several years. Mr. Nickolaus lived in Olds till 1928
when he and his family moved to Richland, Wash. He is survived by his wife,

H. C. Zickefoose Taken by Death
H. C. Zickefoose, 68, died unexpectedly at his home at 606 East Warren street early Tuesday morning, 28 April 1953. The son of John Wesley and Olletha (Jackson ) Zickefoose, he was born Jan. 12, 1885, at Wayne north of Olds. He was a farmer in Wayne township for many years and 22 years ago moved to Mt. Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife and seven children: Mrs. Dorson Trueblood, Salem; Mrs. Fred Burket, Keosaugua; Mrs. D. D. Poffinbarger, Davenport; Mrs. Leslie Trueblood, Seaside, Ore.: Mrs. Dale Barton, Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Glen Schlatter and Orval Zickefoose, Mt. Pleasant. There are also four brothers, Wesley, Mr. Pleasant; Ernest, Brighton Russell, Crawfordsville; and Merle, Waterloo; also a sister, Mrs. Rex Enke, Burlington. There are 25 grandchildren. Funeral arrangement are pending word from relatives.
Services Held For Mrs. Zickefoose
Services for Fannie Amelia Zickefoose were conducted at the First Baptist church in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, March 17, 1957 at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. James R. Troxel, pastor of the local church was the officiating clergyman. Mrs. Marylin Asplund was the organist and Mr. Norman Asplund the soloist. The pallbearers were Basil Huston, Sr., David Trueblood, Larry Burkett, Leonard Zickefoose, Robert Waterhouse, and Harvey Thornas. Interment was in Eicher cemetery in Washington, Iowa.
Fannie Amelia Zickefoose was born in Washington County, September 14, 1885, the daughter of Henry and Fannie (Rich) Nicholus. She was married April 11, 1907 to Henry Clark Zickefoose who predeceased her. Surviving are six daughters and a son; Mrs. Dorson Trueblood, Salem; Mrs. Fred Bruckett, Keosaugua; Mrs. D. D. Poffinbarger, Davenport; Mrs. Leslie Trueblood, Seaside, Ore,; Mrs. Dale Barton, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Mrs. Glen Schlatter and Orval Zickefoose, both of Mt. Pleasant. Twenty-seven grandchildren and one great grandchild survive. Six brothers and three sisters predeceased her.
She accepted Christ as her Saviour at the age of 13 at the Wesleyan Methodist church near Asbury cemetery, was later immersed by Rev. Coons in the Christian church in Mt. Pleasant. After her marriage she became a member of the Congregational church at Olds. The testimony of her unselfish, patient Christian life will constantly remain a witness to everyone who knew her.

Mrs. Jeanette Pitzer and Glen Schlatter of Wayland Married
A quiet home wedding was solemnized Thursday evening April 10, 1947, at 8 o’clock when Mrs. Jeanette Pitzer, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Zickafoose, became the bride of Glen E. Schlatter, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schlatter of Wayland. Rev. Stanley A. Andersen read the double ring ceremony in the presence of the immediate families and a few close friends. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Wittmer of Wayland were the attendant for the bridal couple. Following the ceremony the couple left on a short trip and on their return will make their home in Wayland where Mr. Schlatter is employed.
Jeanette Leah (Pitzer/Zickefoose) Schlatter
Jeanette Leah Schlatter, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Born March 9, 1920, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Clark and Amelia Nicholaus Zickefoose. She married Glenn Schlatter on April 10, 1947, in Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Schlatter was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, vacation bible school, and the mission circles and enjoyed baby-sitting for more than 30 years in her home.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Helen and her husband Dennis Friest of Radcliffe; one son, John and his wife Lori Schlatter of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Opal Trueblood of Portland, Ore., and Wilma Barton of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Wanda Trueblood, Mildred Burkett and Emmelyn Poffinbarger, and a brother, Orval Zickefoose. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Schlatter will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with Pastor David Plooster officiating. Burial will be in Eicher Cemetery, northeast of Wayland. A memorial has been established.
